DESCRIPTION:Based on images from Soviet newspapers and images\, Breaking Up bears witness to a country with a short but tumultuous history. \nUsing elements of figuration and abstraction\, the paintings combine textual and visual elements\, predominantly of the later Soviet period\, when the threads that held together the fabric of the Union gradually began to loosen until\, to everyone’s surprise\, the entire vast patchwork of nations and peoples unravelled. Almost overnight a country of some 290 million people with over a hundred ethnic groups and covering more than a sixth of the earth’s landmass was no more. \nArtist Bio \nWorking and living in Dublin\, John Murray is a painter who has exhibited throughout the country and internationally and is a member of the Nua Art Collective. Named Irish Print Journalist of the Year for his reporting from Russia with The Sunday Tribune newspaper\, John holds a PhD in Russian from Trinity College\, Dublin\, where he lectures with the Russian Department. DESCRIPTION:Auction bidding will close on Saturday 6th July at 3pm.  \nPink Swim\n\n\n\n\nNua Collective are excited to present a new collaboration with Marymount Hospice\, Cork\, creating an opportuntity to raise funds for this incredible organisation. To do this we are auctioning a new work by Nua Collective artist Carol Healy entitled ‘Pink Swim’\, a watercolour painting featuring elements of pastel and gold leaf. \n‘Pink Swim’ was created during a time when I cared full time for my father who was suffering from a chronic illness. Whenever I could carve out some time for myself\, I’d head to the sea\, to swim in all weathers\, the freezing months of winter to the glorious heat of summer. These swims sustained me through the toughest times seeing my beautiful father going through his final stage of life. The body is an amazing vessel in which we live \, the sea felt like a sacred place for my body to be revitalised\, to have my cup filled and my inner child could come out to play. ‘Pink Swim’ is about the importance to take care of yourself\, have fun\, rest\, laugh with friends\, and bring some colour into your life! So that you can return with your cup overflowing and ready to give again. \nThe ‘Pink Swim’ with yellow\, green and red circles.\nWatercolour\, pastels and gold leaf on botanical 300gm\, 50×70 cm \n\n\nMAKE YOUR BID HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nAbout Marymount Hospice\n\n\n\n\nMarymount University Hospital & Hospice\, ‘Marymount’\, provides specialist palliative care services and services to care for dependent older people. \nMarymount need to raise €3 million each year through fundraising initiatives in order to sustain their current level of service provision. That means every cent or Euro you donate makes a real difference to them. \n\nThe original hospital was built on the north side of the city but the service relocated in 2011 to purpose-built\, modern\, high-quality facilities in Curraheen\, Cork. Marymount is an independent voluntary hospital with University status and is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. As the specialist palliative care service for Cork city and county\, Marymount Hospice serves as a centre for coordinating the delivery of palliative care services across all care settings in Cork.
