Amor Fati

This artwork is a personal piece inspired for my love to philosophy. This is my interpretation of the stoic Latin phrase: “Amor fati” meaning Love of fate. I took the equestrian ancient bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius as a foundation to build a slightly dramatic painting about power, mortality and life. The figure with blind eyes is reaching out to the flying doves. The bright colours bring the aliveness and movement to the painting.  I wanted to spiced the usual bronze/gold colours of the statue with my usual vibrant palette to bring the pose more into life.
