These prints reflects my observation of our natural environment and our connection with nature, which is visualized using contemporary print processes. The initial research for these prints started with my close observation of a lone queen wasp, who set about building her nest in my shed. She went on to build a beautiful structure with the help of her expanding family. When the nest was deserted, I felt the need to honour and respect their hard work.

These prints reflects my observation of our natural environment and our connection with nature, which is visualized using contemporary print processes. The initial research for these prints started with my close observation of a lone queen wasp, who set about building her nest in my shed. She went on to build a beautiful structure with the help of her expanding family. When the nest was deserted, I felt the need to honour and respect their hard work . The prints evolved through a sense of curiosity and a desire to obverse up close the interior layers of the nest. I deconstructed the nest and felt an urge to document the different fragments which resulted in a book, ‘An Cuasóg Phuch” (Wasps Nest).
My hope is to encourage and stimulate a response from the viewer of a piece of nature whose aesthetic attraction is often overlooked and not appreciated.
