Peitho is the Goddess who personifies persuasion and seduction. During her research about Peitho, Jennifer read that she was usually depicted as a woman with her hand raised in the act of persuasion or fleeing from the scene of a rape. Therefore Peitho is depicted this way. Her arm is either laying or raised. Either a woman seducing or a woman fleeing scared. Here Jennifer explores an interesting paradox for women in contemporary society. Can a woman ever have control of her body image, of her sexuality or does this expression only exist for the benefit of male desire. The view of the figure is from the perspective of the artist, again challenging the viewer to look at the art through the eyes of the artist and through the gaze of a female. The moon symbolises a powerful feminine energy.
