This image is from a series called Scatter that is part of a collaborative project with Nua Collective. This photo collage blends two images from my own e/immigration. The image of the beach is from Greystones where I grew up and transposed over it is an image of a tree from where I live now, New Haven, Connecticut. Tree roots reach deep and have a complex network of connection through mycorrhiza or fungal roots. This complex symbiosis provides a metaphor for our own human relations that spread invisibly as we migrate to distant places. Even though we are scattered, we remain connected by many threads to our own roots.
