Aiteann is the Irish word for Gorse, meaning sharp and lacerating.
It is a sacred plant associated with the Spring Equinox and the Celtic God of Light, Lugh.
Bui is the Irish word for yellow, and this colour is associated with hope, the flowers of the gorse plant are a bright yellow and are strongly associated with women, who long ago used its flowers to dye cloth as well as for medicinal purposes. This drawing is a meditation on the essence of the gorse plant.
