What Is Real and What Is Not

Recently, my work has been focused on exploring the uncanny as an experience, pushing the viewer into a psychological space where the line between what is real and what is not becomes unstable. I’ve tried to stretch that instability, using the material to unsettle perception, to hold the viewer in a space where certainty slips and the drawing holds them between recognition and disorientation. The work is meant to sit in that quiet, charged atmosphere where stillness becomes uneasy.

“How far can you stretch perception before it starts to resist you?”

I aim to build worlds that can be inhabited and experienced: spaces with their own internal rules, close enough to ours to feel plausible, yet altered enough that the boundary between the real and the imagined begins to blur.

I play with solidity, erosion and texture, allowing the work to drift toward recognisable shapes before slipping away again. The work relies on the instability of its forms to create something that feels real yet remains elusive, inside that fragile state between familiarity and distortion.

Through the use of morphing shapes and shifts in gravity and structure, I explore the tension that appears when the mind tries to make sense of something that resists clarity.

My intention is to create a work that remains unsettled and alive, slightly outside the boundaries of the familiar, projecting that feeling inward into the viewer, in a space where perception stays active and one becomes aware of how much they rely on what they believe they see.
