Fossil rich limestone was formed 300 million years ago. The limestone walls of Connemara and Aran Islands were a constant in my life and inspiration for my series called “Place”. Nature shapes and patterns are a recurring theme in my work and fossil rich limestone is the starting point for my piece Origin. Periwinkles are the sea snails of my childhood which were a gastronomic treat after a trip to the seaside. The crinoid fossil is an ancient sea snail, a natural pattern based on mathematical principles and perfectly designed by nature.
