LISTEN: Aiteann Dubh Conceptual Audio Description:

Aiteann is the Irish word for Gorse, meaning sharp and lacerating.

It is a sacred plant associated with the Spring Equinox and the Celtic God of Light, Lugh.

Dubh is the Irish word for black.  Gorse wood was one of the sacred woods burned on the Bealtaine bonfires.  Its high oil content makes it an effective fire starter.

Fire is light and fire transforms: fire is a direct connection to our ancestors, connection to nature, and to the land.  Out of fire comes new life!
