The corncrake does not have a tractor to drive to parliament with

This painting featured in our Blackout Extended Edition at Platform Arts, Belfast in March 2024. Inspired by an article (of the title”Grieze does not have a tractor to drive to the Saeima”, but in Latvian) on LSM from an ornithologist, the Corncrake is on the Red List of Birds of Conservation Concern in Ireland due to historical declines. These birds are impacted by hedge burning and farming – the smoke that ties this piece with our Blackout collection.
